The annual Diwali celebration lands in Trafalgar Square this weekend. The celebration also known as the ‘The Festival of Lights’ and celebrated by both Hindus, Sikhs and Jains in India is the most widely celebrated festival in the country previously attracting 20,000 people.
The children’s parade this year will include a re-enactment of the end of the Diwali story where Lord Rama victoriously returns to his kingdom. Food stalls serving traditional Indian food and a live band playing traditional Asian music and dance performances will take place throughout the day. In traditional Diwali custom a puja (prayer ritual) will take place towards the end of the night to wrap things up.
