Germany’s biggest beer guzzling, sausage eating, lederhosen wearing event lands in London in October. Several pubs around London will be hosting events throughout the month where you can go down with or whether your stein and sample the beer that Germany has to offer.
If you’re in Aldgate head down to the Bavarian Beerhouse where the staff will be clad in traditional dirndl dresses and lederhosen serving up beer and food imported from Germany. For the bravest drinker there’s a Erdinger XXL glass which holds a mammoth 6 pints. Over in Fulham the Octoberfest pub will be serving over 60 German beers while a Bavarian band plays traditional German sing-a-long tunes. Prizes for the best Bavarian costume are up for grabs.
Oktoberfest isn’t just about the beer; if German bratwurst is something you’re more into head over to Shoreditch where for three weeks the weekly night market will be turned into a mini Deutschland. Mammoth hotdogs topped with sauerkraut, pretzels and apfelstrudel crepes will be served.
