Hey, I’m Freddie Long, frontman of Lost Romantic and a creative based in London. In this post, I’m sharing my eclectic fashion style, including a story behind my favourite Versace coat, and how jewellery adds to my self-expression. I’ll also talk about our recent European tour, new projects with a creative agency, and my dream to collaborate with Hans Zimmer. Plus, a glimpse into what Lost Romantic has planned for 2025!
Who am I:
Hey! I’m Freddie Long, frontman of the UK band Lost Romantic and a creative based in London. I guess you could say I’m a bit of a hybrid artist, combining music, fashion, and creative direction into one whirlwind. I’ve always been drawn to the arts and finding new ways to express myself, whether it’s through our music, visual aesthetics, or even in the fashion world. Lost Romantic really started as a project that allowed me to explore these different passions, and it’s evolved into something much bigger—a way for me to connect with people who vibe with what we’re doing, musically and beyond.
My style in 3 words:
Eclectic, retro, and expressive. I feel like those three words sum it up pretty well, but fashion’s such a fluid thing for me that it’s hard to pin down. Eclectic, because I love mixing things up. Retro, because I’m constantly pulling inspiration from different eras, especially the '70s and '90s. And expressive, because fashion is about communicating something—whether it’s mood, identity, or an idea. I want people to feel something when they see the way I dress, just like with my music.
Favourite fashion piece:
Ooo, that’s tough, as I’m constantly changing my mind—ADHD in full swing! Right now, with it being winter, I’d have to say my Versace long leather coat. It’s got a story, haha. So, it’s actually Elton John’s! He set up a shop in London where he sold his clothes, and all proceeds went to an AIDS charity. So yeah, right now, that’s the piece I’m absolutely loving. The story behind it makes it even more special. It’s crazy to think about the history of the coat, where it’s been, and who wore it before me. There’s something about owning a piece with a past, especially from someone as iconic as Elton John. It adds a whole other layer to the fashion experience.
The power of jewellery to you:
For me, jewellery is more than just an accessory—it’s a way to express myself, to either dress up or even tone down an outfit. It’s another outlet for fashion and creativity. Jewellery can completely change the vibe of a look. I’ve always been drawn to silver, but recently, I’ve been mixing it up with gold, and I’m really enjoying that balance. It’s funny how something as simple as a chain or a ring can make you feel different, more confident even. Sometimes it’s the smallest details that have the biggest impact. In terms of personal meaning, jewellery has also become a bit of a storytelling piece for me—each item I wear carries a memory or an association with a certain moment in my life.
What are you working on at the moment:
We just got back from our first headline European tour, which was absolutely insane. It was one of the most memorable and unbelievable experiences of my life—truly special. It’s something I’ll never forget. Performing in front of different crowds, in different cities, and feeling that energy is like nothing else. Seeing the connection people have with the music we’ve created is just surreal. Besides the tour, I’ve recently signed with Crumb, a modelling and creative agency based in London. That’s opened up a whole new world for me. Working with brands and being able to bring my own creative ideas to the table has been incredible. It’s a different form of expression, but it’s all linked to who I am as an artist.
Dream musical collaboration:
Hans Zimmer! Hands down. Score music has always been a huge inspiration for me—it’s epic, dramatic, and hits every emotional trigger. There’s something about the way he composes that just gets me. It’s cinematic, larger than life, and pulls you in. I’ve always imagined what it would be like to collaborate with someone like him, to bring that sweeping, emotional sound into Lost Romantic’s world. We lean towards the dramatic in our music too, so I think we’d make a good match. Hans, what are you saying… Lost Romantic x Zimmer collab?
Plans for 2025?
We’re kicking off the year with our biggest show to date on January 23rd, so 2025 is starting with a bang. This year has been about building a strong foundation, and now we’re ready to take things to the next level. Our goal is to create the best possible experiences for the people who come to our shows—both visually and musically. We want to make sure every performance leaves a mark. So 2025 will be all about expanding our reach, playing more shows, and getting in front of new audiences. We’re also working on new music that we’re really excited about, so expect plenty more of that coming your way! We want to push boundaries and surprise people with what’s next.
